Visit Kerala- Gods own country, Destinations in Kerala Munnar, Wayanad, Nelliyampathy and Alleppey

Welcome to Puchus world.

Kerala is God's own country. The back waters are really beautiful and you wouldn't want to go back once you come here. Its close to nature and serenity prevails in the villages, though towns are witnessing the growth(pollution due to infrastructure and more traffic ;-))

Its good to know which are the best places to visit in kerala, what would make a perfect itinerary. We always are in a confusion, on the places to include in the itinerary and how to make the best use of time available. Its more of a personal choice, depending on the interests you have, but I would like to give some suggestions on what could be the best way of doing it. When you search around for tour packages, you get something which includes Munnar, Thekkady and Kumarakom. Believe me, there are better places in Kerala. Tour operators typically wants to tie you down to south part of the kerala and where they can take you around for minimal operational cost. There are many other places which are yet to become popular and which is more serene, beautifull and calm than Munnar, ,Thekkady etc. I am not discouraging you about Munnar, Thekkady and Kumarakom. They are must visit destinations, but I am trying to tell you that there is more to kerala than these places.

Destinations in Kerala

Back waters in kerala is breathtakingly beautiful, so Allepey or Kumarakom is a place to go. I think this is the only place in india where you would such serene and picturesque back waters. So its a must in any itinerary.  If your budget is pretty good then you could book the stay in a house boat.

Another very less explored destination is Tree house in Wayanad. You get to stay on the top of a tree. You can see the picture of Tree house here. Munnar, Nelliyampathy are the hill stations with tea plantations, misty mountains etc. Nelliyampathy is less known so if you are on a honey moon and want some private time in nature, then this might be the place.

If you like wild life, then Thekkady, Peechi/Vazhani, Wayanad would be a good inclusion in the list.

Kerala is the land of temples. Temples here are different in architecture from the rest of the country. Gururvayur is the abode of Lord Krishna. Powerful Krishna temple were people come from all parts of the country. Sabarimala, is where Lord Ayyappa resides. Lost of other temples, Vadakkunathan(Lord Shiva) and the only temple in the country where Bharatha is the deity(Koodal Manikyam) and there is  Ananthapadmanabha temple in Trivandrum where Lord venkateswara is the deity.
